San Francisco Unlocked: A Local’s Guide from Russian Hill
Your insider guide to the best the city has to offer — from one of its most beloved neighborhoods, Russian Hill.
We Live Here. Let Us Show You Around.
At The Window, we’ve been part of the Russian Hill community at 2060 Polk Street for years. We know this city the way only locals do — the hidden stairways, the best fog-free afternoons, where to eat after midnight, and which park has the most jaw-dropping views.
This is our guide to San Francisco the way it’s meant to be experienced.
“Every great San Francisco day deserves a great beginning — and a better ending. We’re here for both.”
The Window Cannabis Dispensary is located at 2060 Polk Street in the heart of Russian Hill — steps from Lombard Street, minutes from Fisherman’s Wharf, and perfectly placed for wherever the day takes you. Stop in before you explore or wind down with us when you’re back. Our budtenders know the neighborhood as well as the menu.
The Essential San Francisco List
Walk the Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco’s crown jewel — all 1.7 miles of it. Walk or bike across for breathtaking views of the Bay, Alcatraz, and the city skyline. Bike to Sausalito and take the ferry back for the perfect half-day adventure.
The Window Tip: A vape pen or low-dose edible makes the fog rolling under the bridge feel like something out of a dream. Stop by before you head to the Marina.
Alcatraz Island
America’s most infamous former prison sits in the middle of the bay, and the audio tour is genuinely extraordinary. Even lifelong San Franciscans discover something new every visit. Book early — it sells out fast.
The Window Tip: Pair with a relaxing morning edible for a genuinely immersive, contemplative experience on the island.
Golden Gate Park
Over 1,000 acres of green space — bigger than Central Park. The Japanese Tea Garden, California Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Stow Lake, and buffalo paddocks all call it home. On weekends, the main road closes to cars entirely.
The Window Tip: Pack a pre-roll for the park (consume responsibly in private areas), pick up supplies at The Window on Polk, and make a full afternoon of it.
Fisherman’s Wharf & Pier 39
Touristy? Sure. Unmissable? Absolutely. Clam chowder sourdough bowls at Boudin Bakery, sea lions lounging at Pier 39, bay cruise departures, and Ghirardelli Square hot fudge sundaes — it’s all right here, minutes from The Window.
The Window Tip: We’re a 15-minute walk from the Wharf. Stop by first, then make a day of the waterfront.
Twin Peaks at Sunset
Two peaks, 922 feet tall, and a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire Bay Area. Drive or hike to the top. Time it for sunset and you’ll understand immediately why Tony Bennett left his heart here.
The Window Tip: One of the most transcendent spots in the city. A microdose before the climb makes the views hit differently — in the best possible way.
Dolores Park
San Francisco’s living room. On sunny days, thousands of locals pour onto the sloped lawn with blankets, dogs, and picnic spreads. The skyline view from the top is unbeatable, and the people watching is world-class.
The Window Tip: Cannabis is part of the Dolores Park tradition for many locals. Bring something from The Window, a blanket, and great company.
Chinatown & the Ferry Building
The oldest Chinatown in North America meets the city’s greatest food hall. Walk through the Dragon Gate, browse the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, then head to the Ferry Building for oysters, craft coffee, and the Saturday farmers market.
The Window Tip: Cannabis enhances the sensory experience of great food. Try a sativa vape before hitting the Ferry Building market on Saturday morning.
Haight-Ashbury
Where the Summer of Love happened in 1967. Still wonderfully weird today — vintage shops, Victorian houses, independent boutiques, and a countercultural spirit that refuses to die. Walk Haight Street and feel the history.
The Window Tip: Haight-Ashbury and cannabis have a long, storied relationship. Honor the history with something special from our menu.
Bay Cruise or Sailing Trip
One of the best ways to see San Francisco is from the water. Sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, past Alcatraz, and around Angel Island. Choose from elegant dinner cruises, catamaran tours, or a sunset sail — all departing from Fisherman’s Wharf.
The Window Tip: A low-dose edible before boarding makes the salt air, the bridge, and the sunset feel like a full-body experience.
Explore by Neighborhood
San Francisco is a city of neighborhoods. Each one has its own flavor, personality, and reason to visit. Here are the ones we love most — all close to The Window at 2060 Polk Street.
Russian Hill — Our Home
Quiet, charming residential streets, Polk Street’s lively corridor, hidden stairways with city views, and the famously crooked Lombard Street — all right here. The Window is right here with you.
North Beach (~15 min walk)
Little Italy meets Beat Generation. City Lights Bookstore, incredible Italian restaurants, espresso bars, and Washington Square Park’s neighborhood soul.
Fisherman’s Wharf (~15 min walk)
Sea lions, sourdough bowls, bay cruises, Ghirardelli chocolate, and the energy of SF’s most iconic waterfront. More fun than its reputation suggests.
Nob Hill (~10 min walk)
Cable cars, the Fairmont Hotel, Grace Cathedral, the Top of the Mark bar. Classic San Francisco prestige, steps away from Polk Street.
Pacific Heights (~15 min walk)
Grand Victorian mansions, Fillmore Street dining, the Lyon Street Steps, and Alta Plaza Park’s panoramic views. Where old SF money meets great food.
The Mission (~20 min rideshare)
Incredible Mexican food, colorful murals, Dolores Park’s legendary sunny afternoons, Valencia Street’s bars and boutiques. The most local of local SF neighborhoods.
The Perfect San Francisco Day
A local’s guide to the ideal 12 hours in the city — with a stop at The Window built right in.
8:00 AM — Morning Coffee on Polk Street
Start the day at one of the independent cafés along Polk Street. Watch the neighborhood wake up, the cable car trundle past, and the fog begin its slow morning retreat.
9:00 AM — Lombard Street & the Russian Hill Stairways
Walk the crooked block of Lombard Street and then explore the hidden pedestrian stairways of Russian Hill — secret paths lined with gardens and stunning city views that most tourists never find.
10:30 AM — The Window, 2060 Polk Street
Pick up something for the day. Our budtenders will help you choose the right product for wherever you’re headed — whether that’s an energizing sativa vape for a walking day or something mellower for the afternoon.
11:00 AM — Fisherman’s Wharf & Pier 39
Head down to the waterfront. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl at Boudin, the sea lions at Pier 39, and Ghirardelli Square for dessert. Book a bay cruise if you want to see the bridge from the water.

Walk east to North Beach. Browse City Lights Bookstore — the legendary Beat Generation landmark. Grab a late lunch at one of the neighborhood’s excellent Italian spots and sit at a sidewalk table on Columbus Ave.
4:30 PM — Twin Peaks for Sunset
Rideshare to Twin Peaks. Time your arrival for the golden hour. Watch the city light up below you as the fog pours in through the Gate. This is the view that makes people move to San Francisco.
7:00 PM — Dinner in the Mission or Pacific Heights
Head to the Mission for tacos and margaritas among the murals, or Pacific Heights’ Fillmore Street for something more refined. Both neighborhoods are among the best dining destinations in the city.
